Memphis native Lexi Gold goes straight back to her roots on her latest release, “Ronnie,” sampling Gangsta Boo’s iconic “Where Dem Dollars At.” From the moment the beat drops, the song feels like a love letter to Memphis while still sounding fresh and current.

“Ronnie” features Chrystale Wilson, best known for her role as Ronnie in the cult classic The Players Club, which inspired the song’s title. Lexi doesn’t just reference the character — she pays homage to her in a way that feels intentional and respectful. The visual complements the song perfectly, continuing the story through cinematic moments between Lexi Gold and Ronnie that feel like an extension of the film itself.

Lexi’s voice is one of a kind, and while she undeniably has the look, she backs it up with presence and storytelling. The record is a bop, but it’s also layered with personality and purpose. After her appearance on Joseline’s Cabaret, Lexi Gold is clearly focused on carving out her solo lane — and “Ronnie” is a strong step in that direction.
