Jason George just added another major win to his résumé. The Television Academy Foundation has officially appointed the Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 star to its board of directors for a three-year term — and honestly, it feels like the perfect fit.

If you’ve followed George’s career, you already know he’s been a powerhouse on screen for over 30 years. From playing Dr. Ben Warren in Shondaland’s universe to roles in Mistresses, With This Ring, and Barbershop, he’s been giving range, longevity and impact.

But what makes this news even better is what he’s been doing off screen. George is deeply committed to mentoring young creators, speaking at schools and universities, and pushing for diversity across the entertainment industry. He earned his MFA from Temple University (yes, he’s officially Temple-made) and has served on multiple boards, including SAG-AFTRA and the Motion Picture Television Fund’s NextGen committee. He’s also active in gun-safety advocacy through Everytown, Moms Demand Action and 97Percent.

The Foundation says his appointment will help expand opportunities for students hoping to break into TV production, writing, acting and more. And according to George, the work feels personal — his mother was a special-education teacher, and he credits her for his passion for supporting the next generation.

The Television Academy Foundation, which leads major programs like the College Television Awards and media education initiatives, called George a “dedicated supporter” who has already given years of service and influence.

With this new role, Jason George isn’t just shaping stories on-screen — he’s helping shape the future of television behind the scenes too.
